Indigenous Celebration ~ September 13, 2025
Join us for a day of celebration, learning, and connection at the Stettler Town and Country Museum on September 13 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM as we honor Indigenous culture and history.
This special event will feature traditional teachings, cultural demonstrations, storytelling, food, and more. Offering a chance to experience the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures in our region. It’s a day to recognize the deep roots and continuing contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Central Alberta.
Everyone is welcome! Come with curiosity, respect, and an open heart as we come together to learn, reflect, and celebrate.

Cultural Food Tour ~ September 1-30, 2025
All month long, explore the rich and diverse culinary traditions that make up our community. Local restaurants, cafes, and food vendors will be showcasing special dishes inspired by cultures from around the world; offering a delicious way to celebrate diversity and learn about the stories behind the food. Order one of the cultural dishes and enter you name for a chance to win $100 Heart Of Alberta Dollars!

"Oh but They're Weird and They're Wonderful" Art Display ~ September 4 - October 1, 2025
The exhibition focuses on this interest in the fantastic, mysterious and surreal as expressed by artists in Alberta over the past fifty years. Presenting works from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, this exhibition invites viewers to go beyond and beneath ordinary existence; shifting perceptions of reality and encouraging us to question the ’truths’ of everyday life.

From traditional crafts and art sessions to cultural storytelling and interactive demonstrations, there’s something for all ages to enjoy. These engaging experiences offer a chance to learn new skills, connect with local artists and knowledge keepers, and explore the rich cultural heritage of our community. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, create, and celebrate culture in meaningful ways.
All workshops and classes are free, but space is limited—pre-registration is required.

Moon Ceremony ~ September 7, 2025
Moon ceremonies hold deep spiritual significance in Indigenous cultures. These ceremonies honor the cycles of the moon, which guide natural rhythms, agricultural practices, and personal growth. Moon ceremonies provide a sacred space for reflection, healing, and connection to ancestors and the land. They celebrate feminine energy, renewal, and the interconnectedness of all life.

Drumming Circle ~ September 8, 2025
Drumming circles are a vital part of Indigenous culture in Central Alberta, serving as both spiritual and social gatherings that strengthen community ties. These circles are used in ceremonies, celebrations, and healing practices, bringing together people of all ages and nations. They honour traditions, share teachings, and promote unity, respect, and resilience.

Historic Ghost Walk ~ September 12 & 13, 2025
Step into the shadowy side of Stettler’s history with the popular Historic Ghost Walk. These twilight tours weave through downtown Stettler, bringing to life chilling tales and historical landmarks such as the Stettler Hotel; rumored to be one of the town’s most haunted buildings. The walks offer a compelling blend of macabre storytelling and fascinating local history.

Tufting Workshop ~ September 15, 2025
Tufting is a meaningful art form in Indigenous culture across Central Alberta, especially among Métis and Dene communities. Originally developed in the North, tufting made its way south through kinship networks, residential schools, and cultural exchange. Each piece tells a story of survival, resilience, and identity.

Plant/Local History Walk ~ September 20, 2025
Plants have always played a vital role in the cultures, traditions, and histories of Indigenous Peoples in Central Alberta. For generations, Indigenous communities have relied on local plants for food, medicine, spiritual practices, and materials for daily life. Traditional knowledge passed down reflects a profound understanding of the land and its ecosystems, emphasizing respectful harvesting, sustainability, and spiritual connection.

Celebrating Culture Days with Wilfred Buck ~ September 29, 2025
Join us for a powerful documentary about Cree Elder and educator Wilfred Buck, whose remarkable life journey takes him from hardship to becoming a renowned keeper of Indigenous star knowledge. With humour, honesty, and heart, Wilfred shares teachings that connect science and spirituality, memory and future. This film invites us to see the night sky - and our place in it - through indigenous wisdom and lived experience. Popcorn included!
