Ukraine Displays and Crafting Demo's

Throughout the month of September, the Stettler Town and Country Museum will be hosting special Ukraine Artifacts. Various items will be on display featuring the talents and creativity of the Ukraine Culture including dolls, looms, artwork, crafts, tapestries and more. Join Henriette Chomiak & Anthony Hrabok September 2-5 for interactive crafting demo's and more featuring the Ukraine culture.

Cultural Food Tour

Food brings us together in so many ways. Memories from home, new experiences, and laughter around the table make us all feel welcome no matter where we call home. Join our local restaurants for the month of September as they celebrate their chosen cultures with the Cultural Food Tour. Order any Cultural Food Tour dish from participating restaurants and enter your name to WIN $100 Heart of Alberta Dollars sponsored by the Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development.

Art Exhibit

Party On! On display at the Stettler Public Library from September 2 through September 26. This exhibit presents a lively group of works by 14 Albertan artists. Each piece depicts a single moment of shared revelry and interconnectedness: scenes of musical performances, dancing, carnivals, community gatherings and shared food and drink to help mark special occasions.

Weekly Farmer's Markets

Tuesdays 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Join the Stettler Ag Society as they host their weekly Farmer's Markets at the Stettler Ag Grounds (4516 - 52 Street). Stop in and see what new and exciting items are up for offers each week!

What’s Cooking 1?

Wednesday, September 7 at 6:00pm in the HUB. Homemade Perogies with Maryna Yemelina. Every culture has a comfort food and perogies are up there with the best of them. Learn the process of rolling, filling, shaping and cooking perogies (varenyky) from scratch.

Pencil Drawing with Linda Osetsky-Kneeland

Thursday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Stettler Public Library. Join for a fun evening of sketching, learn more about the tools and tricks of the trade as Linda provides an inspiring introduction to the art of pencil drawing. A number of Linda’s works are on display in the library, be sure to check them out and then register to join in.

Historic Ghost Walk

Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10 at 8:00 p.m. each night. Discover the historical and dark side of the Heart of Alberta on a leisurely walk through downtown Stettler. If you missed out on the ever-popular Historic Ghost Walk this summer, join us for these special tours being offered at no cost during Culture Days.

Wheat Weaving with Irene Topolnitsky

Saturday, September 10 at 10:00am and 1:00pm at Stettler Town and Country Museum. Irene loves to wheat weave creating crosses, windmills, hearts, wreaths and much more. Come learn from Irene how to complete a unique art piece of your own.

Learn the Art of Pysanky with Wendy Staal

Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stettler Ag Society Kitchen. Learn how to make beautiful pysanky eggs in the traditional Ukrainian style. Wendy Staal has been practicing the art of pysanky for 15 years and loves to share this special creative outlet with others.

The Battle of the Borscht

Saturday, September 10 at 1:00 pm at the Stettler Town and Country Museum. Do you think your Borscht can’t be beet? Put it to the test in our epic Battle of the Borscht. A team of local celebrities will pick the best of Borscht at the Stettler Museum. You could walk away with a tidy little prize and all the bragging rights. For more information and to enter, sign up here. Borscht will be served following the battle. 

What’s Cooking 2?

Monday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the HUB. Homemade Nalysnyky with Brenda Murray. Who can resist a delicious cheese filled crepe? Impress your friends and family at the next potluck with this tasty and traditional dish. Chef Brenda from Brenda's Cozy Café will be leading this class.

Reclaiming your Family Medicines

Wednesday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. Zoom talk with Richard Van Camp. Join the Stettler Public Library for a very special presentation by award-winning author Richard Van Camp. Richard is a proud Tlicho Dene from Fort Smith, NWT now living in Edmonton. He has authored 26 books in just about every genre. Several of his works have been made into films, including the Lesser Blessed, available for viewing on the CBC Gem app. His talk on reclaiming our family medicines is based on his recent book, Gather. You won’t want to miss this.

Documentary Double Feature

Friday, September 16. Join together at the Stettler Public Library as they screen two documentaries Ukraine on Fire (Oliver Stone) at 6:00 p.m. and Winter on Fire (Evgeny Afineevsky) at 8:00 p.m., both about the Ukrainian (Maidan) Revolution of 2014. Each film presents a different perspective on what happened. Join us for one film or both, and stay for the discussion afterwards. Popcorn and snacks will be provided.

Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stettler Public Library. Discover your ancestral roots, learn about your culture, research your family tree, and record it to know who you are.

Explore Clay with Jasper

Tuesday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stettler Public Library.  Jasper is back to provide you with tips and help you get started on this fun and endlessly fascinating art.  You do not need any prior knowledge of working with clay, bring your creative vision and join in!

Paint Night: Sunflowers

Friday, September 23 at 6 p.m. at the Stettler Public Library. Have a fun night out and create a beautiful painting of a sunflower that can hang on your gallery wall. Mocktails and snacks will be provided. Ages 18+
