Cultural Food Tour

Food brings us together in so many ways. Memories from home, new experiences, and laughter around the table make us all feel welcome no matter where we call home. Join our local restaurants for the month of September as they celebrate their chosen cultures with the Cultural Food Tour. Order any Cultural Food Tour dish from participating restaurants and enter your name to WIN $100 Heart of Alberta Dollars sponsored by the Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development.

Swiss Days at the Stettler Town & Country Museum 

Learn about the history and culture of Switzerland at the Stettler Museum. Artifact displays, Swiss Wrestling display, Yodeling performers, Swiss Market, Cross Bow demonstration , Alphorn Performance, Swiss Bernese Mountain Dog Show, Singers,  Miniature Golf, Games, Genealogy  demonstration, will be held with special features on the Swedish Community September 112th, 13th, 14th, 15th and the Swiss Culture at the Stettler Museum.

Art Exhibit- Pretend Foraging in Sleeved Blankets - 

Explore the vibrant world of art at the library! Check out the captivating exhibit “Pretend Foraging in Sleeved Blankets” by Lethbridge-based artist Grace Wirzba, in town as part of the TREX (Travelling Exhibition Program of the Art Gallery of Alberta).  Wirzba selected objects from the Galt Museum and Archives collection in Lethbridge and invited friends and strangers create artistic responses to these archival pieces. She then translated these responses to a series of 13 drawings and 8 mini quilts. Additionally, enjoy the intricate pencil sketches of local landmarks by Linda Osetsky-Kneeland.

Edmonton Swiss Dance Group  will be demonstrating and offering step by step on the Swiss  Dance lesson, a high energy dance similar to line dancing in Canada.

Swiss Christmas Cookies 

Christmas cookies very seriously. Swiss bake Christmas cookies with their extended Swiss family and are inviting you to participate. Swiss traditional Christmas cookies are taken very seriously. 

Spitzbuben

Two melt in your mouth butter cookies sandwiched together with homemade jam and dusted with powdered sugar. They look best when one half of the cookie sandwich has a decorative hole in the middle and filled with a thin layer of jam.

Rosti

Rösti or rööschti is a Swiss dish consisting mainly of potatoes, sautéed or shallow-fried in a pan. It was originally a breakfast dish, commonly eaten by farmers in the canton of Bern, but is now eaten all over Switzerland and around the world. You will learn how to create perfectly folded and flavourful Rösti.
