Stettler, AB- The 15th Annual Stettler Steel Wheel Stampede Parade will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday June 8th, 2024. We are honoured to host Bernie Jackson as the 2024 Honourary Parade Marshal.

Bernie Jackson is a ball of positive energy and a huge asset to the Stettler community. Bernie is always willing to go the extra mile for organizations, sports groups, schools, festivals, and events.

Bernie has been a long-term resident of the Stettler. Bernie was born at the Stettler Hospital and spent her elementary years attending Erskine School and then attended Stettler Composite School for her high school years. After finishing her schooling, Bernie moved to Red Deer to develop her skills working at the Waskasoo Stationery and Printing. Home was calling, so she returned to put the skills she learned to work at the Stettler Independent as an Off-Set Press Operator.  Bernie also spent some time working at AGT and as a cook’s assistant at Heart Haven.  Bernie married her high school sweetheart Donnie Jackson, and she took over the family farm in 1988. The farm was the perfect place to raise their three wonderful children Christine, Anthony, and Tyler.  Always up to try new things, in 1996 Bernie and Donnie bought the Wells Furniture from Calvin Blauel. Since then and with Bernie’s great skills at marketing, business and customer service, Wells has become the famous Wacky Women of Wells, on main street becoming a main staple of the Stettler community.

Bernie’s heart is vast, there is no organization or cause that she will not undertake and strive to help.  From donations to selling tickets to promoting and participating in events, you’d have a hard time finding an organization, group or individual who hasn’t been touched by Bernie’s kindness and support.   She is a true role model of the phrase “It Takes a Community to Raise a Child” and embodies the “Heart of Alberta” spirit that Stettler is known for.  With her contagious smile, positive attitude, can do spirit, bubbly personality, strong ethics, and passion for her community, Bernie is a role model we can all look to and inspire to be!
