An accomplished guitarist and singer, he will remind you of the styles of Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, CCR, Stevie Wonder and The Guess Who, just to name a few. Al aims to please.

July 9 - Michael Szabo

Mike Szabo had a late start to his music career. Truth is, he never saw it coming.
In just a few short years Mike has written his own book of songs and has been featured on CKUA, CBC and Windspeaker Radio.
What he loves most though, is perform for a live audience.

Mikes school of music?
Decades spent around Alberta Campfires, singing the songs of the some of the world’s best songwriters.
While you may well hear those influences in his music, Mike has definitely found his own voice and his songwriting is beginning to be noticed.
With words that don’t hold back and with his heart on his sleeve, Mike paints a vivid picture of life and the world around us, transporting you from a seat in the audience, to a special place in your memories and your heart.
2024 brought Mike invitations to play his songs at folk clubs, festivals, civic events, house
concerts and no less than four songwriters showcases around Alberta.
With a new studio album soon to hit the airwaves, 2025 could be a busy year for this Alberta singer songwriter.

July 16 - Presley Battle

Presley Battle is a 24 year old singer/songwriter and musician from Delia, AB. She has been singing for as long as she could talk, even performing on stage at a very young age. She grew up surrounded by classic country music and oldies, but always knew rock music was her niche. She now uses all of her roots to curate a style of her own, infusing her gritty and powerful vocals in everything she does. Now living in Medicine Hat, she has made a big impact on the music scene there, chosen as “Rising Star” in 2024 for the Medicine Hat Stampede’s Summer Jam. Now, Presley has been working to build her name all over Alberta. She’s little, but she’s loud!

July 23 - The Rick Moore Swing Trio

The Rick Moore Swing Trio features an amazing diversity of entertaining songs from Western Swing titles of Bob Wills and Cindy Walker, to reinvisioned country classics of Hank Williams, to Gypsy Swing of Django Rheinhard, favorites from the Great American Songbook and some captivating originals from a number of genres.  Rick Moore is a long time music veteran playing, teaching and facilitating jams for many years. He covers the vocals with a smooth baritone voice, plays guitar and mandolin as well. He will soon be releasing a complete album of his own compositions.  Carl Stretton, our local sound tech legend and founder of the Red Deer Scene, holds down the bass section with a seasoned touch on the dog house bass.   Jeremy Doody, highly schooled and the busiest musician in town, makes the guitar come to life like no one else. As well, you may also catch him playing a tenor saxophone with flair and singing some pop favorites.

Aug 6 - Monte DeMarco

I was born in a small town in Saskatchewan and my family later moved to Alberta when I was about 12 years old. My father was a full time musician and singer. I joined the Canadian Navy at the age of seventeen and learned to play the guitar during my tour of duty. When my tour was complete, I returned to Calgary. My father and older brother had been performing together while I was gone. Watching them perform inspired me to become an entertainer as well. Over the years I played as a single, then started working with other musicians in several bands. I performed in many venues throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC. Later I moved to Bucerias, Mexico, performing as a house band. I returned to Alberta and continued to perform in various venues and private functions.

Aug 20 - Ollee Owens

Raised on the Canadian prairies, Ollee Owens grew up in a musical family where the sounds of southern rock, country and gospel could often be heard on her parent’s stereo. In her teens she discovered Delta Blues and singers like Etta James, Mavis Staples, Mahalia Jackson and Janis Joplin. Buddy and Julie Miller, Eric Clapton, The Band and Bob Dylan were also a part of her playlist during these years. These artists captured her interest with their vocal intensity, thoughtful lyrics and emotionally charged music. The lyrical themes distinctive to Ollee’s original work provides a rich and meaningful experience for the earnest listener. Her demeanor, being curiously accessible, beckons one to join in on feeling deeply as she does in the moments shared together. Ollee’s voice reflects the warmth of Mavis Staples and the intensity of Etta James in what fans have described as unexpectedly pronounced, powerful and soulful.
