Stettler is located in the "Heart" of Central Alberta, at the junction of Highways 12 and 56. It's a common occurance to hear residents say that it's the people and sense of community that makes Stettler a great place to live. There is never a dull moment in the region with all of the events hosted by our volunteers. It truly is a great place to make a connection.
Our location is admirable with Red Deer just 80 kms west, and only a short drive to either Edmonton or Calgary (190 kms, and 225 kms, respectively). Stettler's location near Red Deer, as well as Calgary and Edmonton, gives residents access to most every amenity the Province has to offer while maintaining its small town character. Stettler boasts a relatively low crime rate, as well as a laid back, small town lifestyle.
Stettler is a small community that has also been experiencing steady economic growth in the past several years. The Town of Stettler's most recent census in 2016 shows that the Town's population has grown to 5862, with the County of Stettler housing a population of 5322. There have been several large businesses that have moved into the area, such as Wal-Mart, Tim Horton's, The Brick, and Canadian Tire. Stettler also has a vibrant community of small business that offer Stettler residents all sorts of services from automobile services to photography services.
The Town of Stettler boasts a full range of essential and emergency services, with the local RCMP detachment, Hospital, Ambulance Service, and volunteer Fire Department being at the core of these. There are two medical clinics in town, as well as two Optometrists, three Dentists, and several Chiropractic, Physiotherapy and Massage clinics. Stettler also has a nursing home, as well as several senior’s retirement homes.
